Rounds On Me (2016)
Rounds On Me wanted to change the way people buy drinks. My role as a project lead was to run workshops with the client in order to find the problems and design the best solution.
The Problem
When opening a Bar Tab, the bar will often keep your bank card until the Bar Tab is closed.
There is no way to remotely offer a drink to someone.
While the Bar Tab is open, it’s usually complicated to pay part of the Bar Tab.
Design Process
After the first meeting, it was time to look at the competitors, sketch out some ideas and look for possible solutions. The first sketches of the main functionalities were presented to the client in a second meeting. After showing a proposal, more sketches were made with the client to solidify what would be the main ideas. With a clear image of what the final product would be, the next step was to create user flows and the wireframes of all the screens. The annotations document would specify all the actions and flows to support the developers job.
The Solution
Find venues nearby and access their drinks menu.
Send drinks remotely as a gift to friends in a specific venue.
Share drink preferences and favourite places on the app.
Make contributions towards a common Bar Tab, while it’s still open.
Find strangers and offer them a drink, and receive drink offers from strangers (Optional)
Logotype creation to reflect the age old tradition of drinking with friends with the essence of socialising in it’s purest form, the ever present mark left by a glass in every bar we experience.
Results
“Rounds On Me” app was launched at the Brighton Great Escape Festival in 2016 and it was a success. There were 5,000 App activations during the festival.
